CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Royals have set a new department record, posting a 3.48 GPA in the fall semester to beat out the 3.46 GPA recorded in 2023.
"I am proud of our student-athletes, who continue to elevate their success both in the classroom and in competition," said Queens Director of Athletics
Cherie Swarthout. "Our coaching staff along with our director of athletic academic success, Tiffany Britten, and her team ensure our student-athletes remain laser-focused on their academic performance at Queens. The Royals have stayed committed to producing high-quality work, and the department-record 3.48 GPA for the fall semester proves that our intentional efforts to build a supportive and robust learning environment are paying off."
Coming off the heels of a fourth-place finish at the national championship, the NCAA women's triathlon team recorded the highest team GPA for the semester, a 3.80. Women's golf ranked second with a 3.789 while the men's tennis team was third with a 3.781. Women's tennis (3.77) and women's swimming (3.76) wrapped the top five. Additionally, men's tennis showed the most improvement from the spring season when they posted a 3.083.
Queens Athletics also saw 113 student-athletes record 4.0s, which is an increase from last fall. Additionally, increases were shown in the number of student-athletes who recorded between a 3.70 and 3.99 GPA (164). A total of 419 recorded a 3.3 or higher. Each group of student-athletes is now eligible to become a member of the Athletic Royal Society, Athletic Gold Standard, or the Royals Athletic Director's Honor Roll pending their spring academic performance.
This semester's performance follows a 2024-2025 season that saw the Royals record it's highest department GPA, a 3.45, for the second straight season.
