THE SHORT STORY
Queens dropped its first game of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling 87–38 on the road at James Madison. The Royals competed early, tying the score twice in the opening quarter, but JMU's size, physicality, and offensive balance proved difficult to match as the Dukes pulled away in the second half. Despite the result, Queens saw strong minutes from several players, including a standout effort from freshman
Breah Franks.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Breah Franks was a bright spot off the bench, scoring nine points and grabbing five rebounds in 22 quality minutes, her season high in both categories.
- Ana Barreto added eight points, including two made threes, while playing a team-high 35 minutes.
- Dayuna Colvin finished with five points, two rebounds, and two assists, also registering a key fast-break jumper in the second quarter.
- Hannah Hicks contributed five points, six rebounds, and a block while battling JMU's active frontcourt.
- Brenae Jones-Grant posted four points, six rebounds, and a steal in limited minutes due to early foul trouble.
- Queens secured 17 offensive rebounds and finished with 42 total boards, only four fewer than JMU.

- Franks' nine points and five rebounds marked career highs and the most by a Queens freshman through the first three games of the season.
