Jabriel Nets Career-High 16 Points; Queens Falls at Furman

THE SHORT STORY
Despite a career-high 16 points from sophomore Maban Jabriel, the Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team was unable to overcome a fierce Furman squad falling 90-79 inside Timmons Arena on Sunday night. The Paladins were lethal from the perimeter shooting 12-of-33 from downtown, a mark that a Royals opponent hasn't done since February 20th last season.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Maban Jabriel led the Royals offense with a career-high 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting. The 6-9 forward added a season-high seven rebounds along with two assists, a block, and a steal.
-Senior Nasir Mann reached double figures for the sixth game this season, and fifth straight with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting. The Gainesville, Florida native added three rebounds and a team-high four assists to his line.
-Rookie Jordan Watford reached double figures for the third time this season with 14 points while adding two rebounds and one assist.
-Chris Ashby added 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting and Avantae Parker logged 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field.
-Alex Wilkins led Furman with a game-high 23 points and added seven assists to his night.
-Furman controlled the glass 36-27, marking the third game this season the Royals have been outrebounded by their opposition.

NOTABLE MOMENTS
-Furman jumped on the visiting Royals 12-5 heading into the first media break. The Paladins connected on five of their first seven shots, including 2-of-3 from the perimeter, while limiting the Royals to a 2-for-5 clip from the field.
-Trailing by 10 with 10:05 remaining in the first half, the Royals responded with a 7-0 run to cut the deficit back to three. During the run, Maban Jabriel and Chris Ashby knocked down a pair of threes to spark momentum. However, the Paladins answered with a 7-0 surge capped by an Alex Wilkins three to force a Queens timeout as the lead was back up to 10.
-Holding a 14-point lead with 18:43 remaining in the game, Furman ripped off an 11-2 run to grow their lead to the largest of the game at 20.
-With 5:33 remaining in the contest, Queens put together an 8-0 run over a minute, which was capped off by a Nasir Mann three-pointer to force a Furman timeout as the deficit was back down to 10.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
-Queens fell to 12-34 in Division 1 when they lose the battle on the glass. Rebound margin.
-Sunday night was the second straight game that five Royals have reached double figures in the same game.
-Queens continued to distribute the basketball effectively, finishing with 18 assists. Over the last three games, the Royals are averaged 19.0 per game.
