QUEENS (3-3 OVERALL, 0-0 ASUN)

THE MATCHUP
Sunday night marks the first all-time meeting between Queens and Furman. The Paladins will be one of nine first-time opponents for the Royals, and the fourth already this young season.

LAST TIME OUT
Queens is coming off a 101-94 victory over UNCG on Thursday night inside Curry Arena. Five different Royals reached double figures as Chris Ashby led the charge with 18 points on 5-of-12 shooting from downtown. The Royals offense was clicking from the jump as they never trailed the Spartans.

ASUN/SOCON CHALLENGE
The meeting with Furman will be the Royals second straight game against a SoCon squad as part of the ASUN/SoCon Challenge. Queens is 3-0 in the challenge that debuted last season with victories over Western Carolina, VMI, and UNCG.

BORDER WARS
Sunday night will be a clash between two of the best mid-major programs in the Carolinas. Queens is no stranger to battling the best from the states in Division 1, with 14 previous matchups with programs from North Carolina and South Carolina. The Royals are 7-7 all-time against those programs, with two of those losses coming at Duke and Clemson.

DISHING DIMES
The Royals offense has flowed well the last two games, in part due to exceptional ball movement. The Royals have turned in 39 assists during those two outings, including 20 dimes against Sacred Heart. This season, the Royals are 3-0 when facilitating at least 15 assists in a game, and 0-3 on the year when not meeting that mark.

PERIMETER GAME
Queens enters Sunday night 59th in the country, and first in the ASUN with 28.8 threes attempted per game. The Royals have buried 31 threes over their last two games, with 16 against Sacred Heart and 15 against UNCG, both of which are top 10 in a single game in program history. On the other hand, the Royals have done an elite job defending the perimeter, holding opponents to 25 percent, which ranks 26th in the country and tops the ASUN.

CENTURY MARK
In their last outing against UNCG, the Royals eclipsed the century mark for the first time since December 9, 2023, when they dropped 112 on Carolina University.

CERTIFIED SHARPSHOOTER
Chris Ashby has been lethal this season and throughout his career from the perimeter. Ashby is averaging 14.8 points on 43 percent shooting from outside. The Houston native ranks sixth in the country in threes made so far this season, and needs 38 more threes to break Chris Benson's all-time school record set back in 2003.

FRESHMAN PHENOM
Rookie sensation Jordan Watford earned his first career start last outing against UNCG. The Lancaster, South Carolina native ranks sixth in the ASUN with 3.3 assists per game while adding 8.0 points per outing.

MR. DO-IT-ALL
A 6-6 guard-forward combo from Gainesville, Florida, Nasir Mann has consistently drawn the NBA player comp of Josh Hart from head coach Grant Leonard, in part due to his ability to do it all. This season, Mann is averaging 14.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 0.8 steals per game. The dynamic playmaker ranks 14th in the league in scoring and fourth in rebounding.

SCORING TRIO
The veteran trio of Yoav Berman, Chris Ashby, and Nasir Mann has taken the league by storm as all three rank in the top 15 in scoring. Berman leads the Royals with 15.2 points per game, which is seventh in the league. Ashby is close behind at ninth with 14.8 per game, and Mann is pouring in 14.0 points, which ranks 14th.

CHAMPIONSHIP REBOUNDING
Since joining the league, Queens has ranked top three in the ASUN in rebounding every season. The Royals sit 10th in the league in rebounding, but have won the glass in their last three matchups. When the Royals win the battle on the boards in Division 1, they are 41-16 overall.

TRIMMING THE TURNOVERS
After a sluggish start in the turnover category, Queens showed drastic improvements last game against UNCG only committing six on the night. The Royals are averaging 14.2 per game this season. When the Royals take care of the rock more than their opponents, they are 30-11 in Division 1.

FURMAN (2-3 OVERALL, 0-0 SOCON)

EARLY SCHEDULING
Furman enters Sunday night 2-3 overall with their two victories coming against non-NCAA programs in Columbia International and Ohio Christian. The Paladins fell to High Point, Troy, and Northern Iowa earlier in the season.

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
Furman has been dominant inside Timmons Arena posting a 111-20 overall record since the beginning of the 2015-16 season.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE TROUBLE
Charles Johnston is a player to watch for the Paladins. The Cal State Monterrey Bay transfer is averaging 11.4 points and 10.6 rebounds and turned in four double-doubles in the first five games.

LIFE ON THE PERIMETER
Furman doesn't shy away from the perimeter, attempting the 34th most threes per game in the country at 31.2. However, cashing in those opportunities has been a struggle as the Paladins are only hitting 25.6 percent of those attempts, which is 343rd in the nation.

IN GOOD HANDS
Bob Richey is in his 10th season at the helm of the Furman program. A finalist for both the 2023 Hugh Durham Coach of the Year Award and Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award, Richey has led Furman to 10 straight winning seasons, including the 2023 SoCon Tournament title, which was the first in program history.
