QUEENS (0-0 overall, 0-0 ASUN)
THE MATCHUP
Monday morning marks the eighth all-time meeting between two programs that are separated by 24 miles. Winthrop holds a 5-2 series lead in a historical matchup that started November 21, 1990.

SEASON OPENERS
Queens has found success in season openers, going 8-2 over the last 10 years. Since joining Division 1 in 2022, the Royals are 2-1.

HIGH EXPECTATIONS
In just their fourth year in the league, Queens was picked to win the ASUN by the league's coaches, garnering six first-place votes. The Royals were picked third in the media poll behind North Alabama and Eastern Kentucky.

CERTIFIED SHARPSHOOTER
Chris Ashby enters his final season after being named the ASUN Preseason Player of the Year. The Houston, Texas native is coming off a season in which he broke the single-season school record with 115 three-pointers made. Ashby sits 63 threes away from breaking the school record set by Chris Benson in 2003.

BLOCK PARTY
Despite losing the nation's leading shot blocker Malcolm Wilson, the Royals added Georgia Southern transfer Avantae Parker. As a freshman in Statesboro, Parker swatted 40 shots, the second most amongst first-year players and eighth most in a single season.

FRESH FACES IN NEW PLACES
This offseason, Queens added 13 newcomers to the roster to help take on a 2025-26 schedule that features nine first-time matchups.

FINISH STRONG
Queens has found ways to close out games with five minutes to go. The Royals went 20-2 last season when leading at that mark, and hold a perfect 23-0 record in Division 1 against non-conference opponents when leading with five minutes to play.

REBOUNDING GETS YOU PAID
The Royals prioritize crashing the glass and have ranked top three in the ASUN in rebounding since joining the league. Queens ranked fourth in offensive rebounding with 11.4 last season.

Winthrop (0-0 overall, 0-0 Big South)
HOME COURT COOKING
Winthrop has found success in Rock Hill over the last three seasons holding a 37-11 record at home.

ROSTER FLIP
The Eagles roster will look vastly different after losing their top six scorers from a season ago. The group combined to average 70.3 of their 84.7 points per game.

PORTAL PRIZE
Charleston Southern transfer Daylen Berry will be a player to watch for the Eagles after being named Big South Conference Preseason Second Team. Berry ranked 12th in the league in scoring (13.9), fourth in steals (1.7), 10th in assists (2.8), and 13th in rebounding (5.3).

PRESEASON PICKS
Winthrop was picked to finish fifth in the Big South Conference Preseason Poll after posting a 23-11 overall record and an 11-5 mark in league play last season.
