Royals Fall in Tight Match with Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team (2-8) will leave Athens, Ohio, 1-1 on the weekend after falling to Ohio University (3-9), 2-1, in overtime this afternoon.

INSIDE THE MATCH
Much like yesterday, the Royals struck early this afternoon as Hensley Miller found the back of the cage in the 11th minute to give Queens a 1-0 lead. However, the Bobcats had an answer, scoring off a penalty corner to tie the game, 1-1, with just eight seconds left in the opening period.

The 1-1 score remained throughout play as Queens goalkeeper Madison Destefano turned away shot after shot from the Bobcats. The Royals saw a chance to take the win in the 54th on a set piece off a penalty corner, but Miller's shot went just wide of the cage, which led the game to overtime.

In the extra period, Ohio used a fastbreak opportunity to sneak the ball into the cage in the 66th minute to win the game.
