Queens Faces No. 5 Wake Forest on the Road

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team (2-9) traveled to play No. 5 Wake Forest this evening, falling 9-2 to the Demon Deacons.

INSIDE THE MATCH
Seven saves from Queens goalkeeper Madison Destefano would hold Wake Forest to just one goal in the opening quarter, but the Demon Deacons scored three more unanswered goals in the second period to build a 4-0 lead. Liv Rainwater found the back of the cage in the 28th minute for Queens to give the game a 4-1 score at halftime.
 
Wake Forest would pull away with the game in the third, putting together a 5-0 run to increase the margin to eight, 9-1, heading into the final 15 minutes of action. In the fourth, Queens' Alana Shimp was able to net the first goal of her collegiate career in the 47th minute to give the match its final score.

  • Liv Rainwater notched her second goal of the season on an assist from Delfina Gonzalez Fontan.
