COLUMBIA, S.C. – In their fourth all-time meeting with the University of South Carolina, the Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team fell 3-0 in Columbia on Tuesday night. Despite giving up two goals in the first six minutes, the Royals backline kept the high-octane Gamecocks attack scoreless for the next 68 minutes before a late goal sealed the Gamecocks victory.

TURNING POINT
A top 10 nationally-ranked offense, the South Carolina attack wasted no time setting the tone by netting a pair of goals in the first six minutes of action. The Gamecocks jumped on the board in the 2
nd minute when William Nilsson sent the first set-piece opportunity from the corner to the box. The initial shot was deflected off the crossbar by Queens goalkeeper
Matheus Rhormens, but the rebound fell to the boot of Camden Kowalski who ripped the opening goal past defender
Samuel Idinge. Just four minutes later, South Carolina extended their early lead when Alejandro Velazquez-Lopez split the Royals defense with a pass finding Harrison Myring who touched it past Rhormens into the bottom left corner of the net.
KEY STATS & NOTES
- Rodrigo Canovas and Caio Brandao led the attack with two shots each. The duo also turned in 90-minute performances.
- 11 different Royals posted a shot on the night with sophomore Roberto Alvarez putting the only Royals shot on goal.
- Samuel Idinge, Leontios Zacharia, and Caleb Woodard turned in complete games for the Royals.
- Matheus Rhormens made his third career start in goal and picked up six saves after facing 20 shots for the third straight match.

- Coming off a season-high eight corner kick opportunities against Lipscomb, the Royals earned five more opportunities against the Gamecocks.
- The victory extended the Gamecocks winning streak to four straight over the Royals. The two schools first faced off in 1999 and South Carolina took down Queens 5-1 in Charlotte.
