Brace from Bourlot Jaeggi Sends Queens Past Presbyterian on Monday Night

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Behind an impressive brace from veteran Ciro Bourlot Jaeggi, the Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team picked up their first win of the 2024 season with a dominant 3-1 victory over Presbyterian College. The Royals netted three first-half goals to cruise by the visiting Blue Hose on a beautiful Monday night in the Queen City.

TURNING POINT
Queens wasted no time jumping on the visitors as the Royals found the back of the net twice within the first two minutes of action. The Royals capitalized on an errant pass by the Blue Hose goalkeeper as Michel Feldman sent a fantastic header to the chest of Bourlot Jaeggi who finished the opportunity for an early 1-0 lead. Just a minute later, Bourlot Jaeggi was on the distribution side as he sent a pass to the top of the box finding Caio Brandao for the finisher in the bottom left corner. The early advantage set the tone before Bourlot Jaeggi put away his second goal of the game to give the Royals a commanding 3-0 advantage.
 
KEY STATS & NOTES
  • The brace from Bourlot Jaeggi was his first as a Royal as he netted his fourth and fifth career goals. The Santa Fe, Argentina native dished out his first assist as a Royal.
  • Veteran midfielder Caio Brandao netted his fourth career goal, and first in Division 1.
  • Junior Michel Feldman set up the opening goal with his fifth career assist. The Frankfurt, Germany native earned his second start of the season and turned in 63 minutes of work.
  • Making his 13th career start, sophomore Cole Pumpian turned in a dominant 90-minute performance. Pumpian set up the Bourlot Jaeggi goal in the 27th minute for his second career assist.
  • Sophomore Evan Morris picked up his fifth career win between the pipes tallying four saves.
  • Seven Royals, including Evan Morris, Samuel Idinge, Felipe Marty, David Perez, Cole Pumpian, Roberto Alvarez, and Milan Miric turned in complete performances. The 90-minute outing from Perez marked a career-high.
  • Off the bench, Oliver Kneer provided a spark with a season-high 27 minutes in the midfield while Caden Whitt made his first collegiate appearance.
  • The visiting Blue Hose outshot the Royals 13-6 on the night.
  • The last Royals player to net a pair of goals in the same game was Michel Feldman. The junior notched a hat trick last season against Jacksonville on October 14, 2023.
 
UP NEXT
The Royals will hit the road for their first road trip of the 2024 season making a short drive down I-77 to face off against Winthrop on Friday, September 6th. The meeting will mark the second all-time showdown between the two programs after the Royals took the opener 2-0 last season.
