PHILADELPHIA, Pa. –  The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team opened their 2024 season this evening facing the Temple Owls on the road at Howarth Field.

INSIDE THE MATCH
The Owls scored a pair of goals nearly within a minute of each other in the opening quarter to get out in front in today's match. They then found the back of the cage twice more in the second quarter to take a 4-0 lead into the halftime break.
 
Offensively, the Royals were held to zero shots through the first three quarters of play.   
 
KEY STATS & NOTES

• Queens freshman goalkeeper Madison Destefano was spectacular in her debut this evening recording 16 saves after facing 25 shots on goal.
• Queens only allowed Temple to score two goals off their 19 penalty corner opportunities.
• Sydney Smith recorded the Royals' lone shot on goal in the fourth off their penalty corner.
• Peyton Rieger led the Owls with two goals.
• Temple outshot the Royals 38-2.
