CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte softball team traveled to Raleigh, N.C. to face ACC-foe NC State in a doubleheader this Tuesday afternoon, eventually falling by scores of 7-1 and 8-1.

BALLPARK BULLETS
- In the first game, Lindsey DeRoeck hit her first home run of the season in the top of the fourth for the Royals' only run of the game.
- The Royals' two hits in the first game came in the fourth inning. Freshman Brooke Piper knocked a single just two batters after DeRoeck's homer.
- Autumn Courtney pitched 2.2 innings, but gave up eight hits and six runs; five of which were earned. Jordan Dunn relieved Courtney in the third with a runner on base, and was able to get the third out. Dunn finished out the game giving up a run and hit each. She also had one strikeout, the only of the game for Queens.
- The Royals were able to draw four walks. Kasidi Staley drew two, while DeRoeck and Kayla Smith drew one each.
- The Wolfpack were led by Makayla Marbury and Ellie Goins on offense. Marbury got the bats started with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to give State the early lead, 2-0. She reached base two more times by walk later in the game. Goins slapped the second home run of the day for the Pack in the third with a two-run home run, to stretch the lead to 5-0.
- Kayla Fekel earned the win, which moves her record to 2-0. Fekel pitched 4.1 innings and only gave up two hits and one run. She also struck out three Queens batters. Rylee Wyman got the last eight outs for NC State giving up zero hits and striking out one during that time.
- In the second game, the Royals were able to triple the game one amount of hits to six in game two. Kayla Smith led the way with two hits, while Ashlyn Mickler, Abby Craver, Lindsey DeRoeck, and Makala Strickland each had one hit apiece.
- Strickland drove in the lone run of game two for Queens. An RBI single by the junior in the top of the fourth drove in Brooke Piper to cut the Wolfpack lead at the time to 7-1.
- -NC State's offense got kickstarted in the first by sophomore Amanda Hasler driving home Makayla Marbury on an RBI double in the top of the first. That was followed by a two-run home run by Hannah Goodwin that also drove home Hasler to give the home team a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
- Home runs followed in the second and third inning for the 'Pack. In the bottom of the second, Taylor Ensley sent one over the wall to drive home her younger sister, Tori, as well. Then in the third, redshirt-sophomore Michele Tarpey hit the ball over the centerfield wall for a two-run home run that drove in Ellie Goins.
- Jordan Dunn got the start in the circle for Queens and pitched for 1.2 innings. NC State was able to knock seven hits for five runs during that time. Abby Craver relieved Dunn with 4.1 innings pitched giving up the final three runs.
- Sophomore Rylee Wyman started off in the circle for NC State and earned the win with four innings of and only giving up the one run to the Royals. Aisha Weixlman finished off the last three innings, giving up just one hit.
