Queens Defeats Liberty on the Road

LYNCHGBURG, Va. – The Queens University of Charlotte Royals (8-5, 2-0) moved to 2-0 in ASUN Conference play after defeating Liberty University (4-9, 1-2) on the road by a score of 18-15. The win over the Flames is the first in program history for Queens and avenges an ASUN Conference Semifinal loss from a season ago.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 7-2 at the end of the first period, Queens regained their composure in the second to trail just 12-9 heading into the halftime break.

The Royals then took over in the second of the game outscoring the Flames 9-3 to secure the road win. Though the Royals would take the lead for the first time on a goal from Ainsley Thurston with 5:34 to play in the third quarter, it would be a pair of goals from Karsyn Sadler late in the period that put Queens up for good.

HEAD COACH KELLY MCQUILKIN'S QUOTE
"I'm so incredibly proud of this team. We started slow today but we showed a lot of heart and poise coming back from behind. We also had a few key players come off the bench and bring us the spark we needed.

This conference is so competitive and we have to be at our best every time we take the field. We're happy for the win today and excited to get back to work on Monday morning!"
