Game One

  • In the first game, Queens and Central Arkansas failed to get a run across the plate for the first three innings, with the Sugar Bears only tabbing one hit in the time frame while Queens didn't put up a hit.
  • The first opportunity to score came from the Sugar Bears' Renee Christian after she singled to second base and was brought home after a triple from Tremere Harris. Harris soon scored on a passed ball, putting their squad up 4-0.
  • The Royals weren't able to respond in the fourth — but responded in a huge way in the fifth, with Kayla Smith sending a rocket to right center to score two, tying the game at 2-2.
  • In the top of the sixth, the Sugar Bears slipped in another run to break the tie after a throwing error committed by Queens.
  • Julia Petty inside the circle for Central Arkansas would go the distance, finishing out the 3-2 victory and taking the win.
  • Autumn Courtney started off in the circle and picked up five strikeouts in four innings pitched. Abby Craver would come in for the last three innings & swipe two strikeouts of her own but take the loss.
  • Queens snagged three hits in the first game (Brooke Piper, Ashlyn Mickler, Smith).

Game Two

  • In the nightcap, both squads once again battled through the first few innings scoreless. This time, Central Arkansas found two runs in the top of the third off three hits - two singles and a double.
  • Queens pushed a runner home in the bottom of the fifth inning after Natalie Windham walked and eventually made her way home on a wild pitch.
  • A three-tun top of the seventh inning would push the Sugar Bears to a 5-1 lead off of an error and two hits.
  • Queens would threaten in the sixth and seventh innings, but eventually would leave five on base and Petty in relief would get the save inside the circle for the Sugar Bears.
  • Smith once again led at the plate for the Royals, going 2-for-3 in game two. Piper and Kasidi Staley would snag the other two hits for the Royals.
