The Short Story: Despite a heartbreaking loss in game two, the Queens University of Charlotte baseball team witnessed history on Saturday night as Dillon Lewis set the single-season program record with his 17th home run this year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Jacksonville jumped on the board first in the bottom of the seventh with one run. The Dolphins capitalized on a walk, two hit-by-pitches, and a Queens error to strike first. However, as they have done recently, the Royals answered in the following half inning. Tyler Peters got things started with a one-out single through the left side before Dillon Lewis walked to put a runner in scoring position. The Dolphins would pick up the second out, but Tyler Peters advanced to third on the sacrifice fly. After fighting off countless pitches, senior Tyler Cotto punched an RBI single to right field to bring home the tying run. Nick Alderfer followed it up with a two-run double to left center to extend the Royals lead to 3-1.
-After being held in check in the fourth, the Royals added onto their lead in the top of the fifth inning. Dillon Lewis belted a first pitch no doubt home run to left field to set a new single-season program record.
-The Dolphins answered right back in the bottom of the fifth inning. Following consecutive one-out singles, Josh Steidl roped a two-run double to cut the Queens lead to 4-3. Despite the jam, Queens starter Carson Magill remained poised and picked up a strikeout to end the threat.
-Heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, the Royals took a 4-3 lead into the final frame looking for three outs to even the three-game series. Following a leadoff single up the middle, Chandler Howard tied the game up with an RBI triple just two batters later. The Dolphins loaded the bases with one out and Queens reliever Jack Renaud got the ground ball that he needed, however Blake Edmonds managed to beat out the throw to first to walk it off.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Dillon Lewis turned in a 1-for-3 night at the plate, including a pair of runs scored and two walks. The Charlotte native made history setting a new single-season home run record with his 17th home run of the year.
-Senior Tyler Peters put together his eighth multi-hit game of the year with a 2-for-4 performance. The shortstop has found his timing lately posting a hit in five of the last seven games.
-Matthew Corlew extended his hitting streak to four straight games with a 1-for-3 outing. The senior also swiped his 12th bag which is second most on the team.
-Veterans Nick Alderfer and Will Budnick each roped a double on the night. Alderfer capped off a solid third inning with a two-run double to left center.
-Tyler Cotto got the scoring started after sending an RBI single down the right field line.
-Making his ninth start in his freshman campaign, right-hander Carson Magill tossed 5.0 innings and allowed just two earned runs on four hits while striking out five Dolphins.
