HOW IT HAPPENED
-Jacksonville struck first with two runs on three hits in the bottom of the first inning. The Dolphins strung together consecutive one-out singles before a double from Josh Steidl plated the first run of the game. Jacksonville managed to load the bases with a hit-by-pitch before a walk brought home the second run of the frame.
-As they have done all weekend, the Royals responded immediately in the top of the second.
Matthew Corlew got the offense going with a leadoff double to left field. The Dolphins recorded back-to-back strikeouts before
Zach Weston worked a walk to keep the inning alive.
Tyler Peters followed it up with an RBI single to right field to get a run back.
-Jacksonville added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run on one hit and one error. After loading the bases with no outs, the Royals exchanged a run for a 4-6-3 double play before a ground out to first base ended the jam.
-The Dolphins put another run on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning when Chandler Howard delivered a two-out RBI single to left field. However, Queens came back in the top of the seventh inning plating two runs on three hits.
Andrew McDermott got the rally started with a one-out single up the middle before
Tyler Cotto delivered a double to left field to put runners in scoring position.
Nick Alderfer greeted the new Jacksonville arm with a two-run single to right center to cut the deficit to 4-3.
-For the third straight inning, Jacksonville plated a run when Cade Hentz sent a two-out triple through the right side.
-The Dolphins did most of their damage in the bottom of the eighth plating four runs on five hits. The big inning extended the Dolphins lead to 9-3 to help them secure the weekend sweep.
