The Short Story:Â In a Friday night pitcher's duel, the Queens University of Charlotte baseball team saw their bats silenced as the Dolphins took the series opener 5-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Jacksonville started the scoring in the bottom of the second with two runs on four hits. However, the Royals answered immediately in the top of the third inning with a run.
Matthew Corlew roped a one-out double to right field to start the threat. The Dolphins would retire the next batter, but
Dillon Lewis came through with a clutch RBI single up the middle to score Corlew.
-The Dolphins extended their lead in the bottom of the fourth plating one run on three hits. With runners on first and second and two outs, an RBI single through the right side brought home a run for the home team.
-Jacksonville tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the six behind three hits. For the second time in the game, Queens came in for the top half and responded.
Tyler Cotto belted a one-out solo blast to left field to cut the deficit to 5-2.
BY THE NUMBERS
-Senior catcher
Tyler Cotto turned in a 1-for-4 evening which included his 11
th home run of the year.
-Charlotte native
Dillon Lewis stayed hot with a 1-for-3 performance, including his team-leading 49th RBI.
-
Tyler Peters and
Matthew Corlew rounded out the offense with a hit each. Corlew has rounded into form offensively in the back half of the season recording a hit in eight of the last 10 games.
-
Landry Jurecka got the ball in his 11
th start of the season and tossed 6.0 innings while surrendering five runs on 10 hits and striking out three Dolphins.
-The Royals bullpen featuring
Isaiah Bennett, Joseph Rodgriguez, and
Blake Efird combined to throw 2.0 scoreless innings of relief while striking out a pair of Dolphins.
-Jacksonville held the Queens bats in check fanning 13 Royals.

Queens and Jacksonville will return to action tomorrow, April 27
th for game two of the weekend series. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
