CHARLOTTE, N.C. — the Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team fell to No. 7 Ohio State Buckeyes by a 3-0 decision (16-25, 17-25, 20-25) inside the Levine Center on Friday, Feb. 23.
MIVA-leader Ohio State moved to 12-3 overall, and 6-1 in conference, while Queens moved to 6-10 overall with a 2-5 mark in the MIVA.
KEY MATCH NOTES
- Albert Warzocha led the Royals with 10 kills on the night, while Jack Brinkman and Matthew Pilch each added four apiece.
- Shaphar Grant snagged the only Royals' ace in the matchup while putting down two blocks.
- Setter Daniel Leitao totaled 20 assists, while Jack Brinkman dug out nine.
- For the Buckeyes, Jacob Pasteur finished with 14 kills to lead the match. Cole Young trailed behind with seven, while a trio of Buckeyes (Justin Howard, Kyle Teune, Daniel Hurley) each added five kills apiece.
- Notably, the Buckeyes tallied seven aces in the three-set span.
- The match's best hitting mark came from OSU's third set, as the squad put down 16 kills on 29 attempts with five errors. The Buckeyes pieced together a .289 hitting percentage on the night.
- The Royal's best hitting performance came from the third set as they tabbed 11 kills off of 23 attempts while committing four errors. Overall, the Royals hit a combined .108.
REMARKS FROM HEAD COACH JEREMY PRICE
"We had a great atmosphere, and I want to thank our fans for that," Coach Price said. "Ohio State served tremendously well, they put a ton of service pressure on us and that made a difference. I think Albert [Warzocha] played well tonight and it has been great to have him back in the rotation. We will try to make some adjustments and I am glad we get another shot at them tomorrow night."
