CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Royals (2-1) defeated Canisius University (1-1) at home this afternoon for their second win in a row.
HOW IT HAPPENED
With the score sitting tied 3-3 at the end of the first quarter, the Royals took over control of the game for good outscoring the Griffs 7-2 in the second to take a 10-5 lead into the halftime break.
KEY STATS & NOTES
- Jordan Tandler scored a career-high four goals to lead Queens in the win. Ainsley Thurston added a hat trick while Maura O'Donoghue totaled two goals.
- Kayleen Favreau and Olivia Abe each tallied three assists.
- Isabella Swawnson totaled six draw controls to go along with two ground balls, one goal, and one assist.
- Caroline Kraemer earned the win in goal after totaling 13 saves.
- Canisius' Jody Chu tallied nine saves in goal in the loss.
- Paige Stachura led the Griffs with four goals.
- Queens outshot Canisius, 30-26, as both teams put 23 shots on goal.
- The Royals also led in ground balls, 12-8, and in draw controls, 15-12.
