CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team seeks to build on a convincing road victory at VMI last Saturday as the Royals welcome Carolina University on Tuesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus. The game has been marked as a holiday theme as the entire Queens coaching staff will be repping holiday sweaters.

THE MATCHUP
Queens and Carolina University are set to square off for the second time since meeting last season in Queen City. Queens handled the Bruins scoring the seventh most points in a single game in school history en route to a 112-64 victory. All 12 Royals checked into the game and recorded a basket, including five players finishing in double figures.
Chris Ashby led the way with 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting from behind the arc.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS (4-5 overall, 0-0 ASUN)
- Queens is coming off a convincing 81-78 victory over VMI in Lexington on Saturday afternoon. The Royals shot a season-high 60 percent from the field as four Royals turned in double figures. Graduate student Leo Colimerio turned in a team-high 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting while grabbing a season-high seven boards and dishing out a career-high five assists.
- The Royals return to Curry Arena, a spot where they have defended over the last decade posting a 249-81 record. Queens is 11-2 in non-conference games at home since joining Division 1 with their only losses coming to Appalachian State and Winthrop.
- Queens has found their groove from the field after shooting 36 percent through the first five games. Over the last four outings, the Royals are cashing in at a 49 percent clip.
- Queens is coming off their first victory since the 2022-23 season in which their opponent made more three-pointers. The Royals still managed to bury nine shots from downtown against the Keydets.
- Sharpshooter Chris Ashby has been on a heater from outside making five shots from behind the arc in three of the last four games. Ashby is looking to become the sixth player in program history to drain 200 three-pointers as he sits three away.
- Malcolm Wilson has been a key player to watch this season as the graduate student is averaging a nation-best 4.4 blocks per game. Wilson became the fourth NCAA Division 1 men's basketball player since 2014 to block 34+ shots before December 1st.
- Fresno State transfer Leo Colimerio is finding his groove offensively after turning in his fourth straight double-figure performance against VMI. Colimerio poured in 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting and grabbed a season-high seven rebounds and dished out a career-high five assists. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native sits third on the team in scoring with 9.4 points per game.
- Veteran Jaxon Pollard is coming off a solid week in which he averaged 12.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. The Cedar Hills, Utah native poured in a season-high 13 points on a career-high 6-of-8 shooting from the field.
- Queens ranks fourth in the ASUN in assists as Bryce Cash is top 10 in the league in assists per game with 3.7. The Charlotte native is adding 5.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
- The Royals non-conference slate features four teams, including Utah, BYU, Winthrop, and Mercer ranked top 50 in the nation in scoring offense.
- The free throw line has been a challenge for the Royals this season as Queens is shooting 57 percent from the stripe, the lowest mark since 2020-21 and the lowest percentage by any team in Division 1. Despite the struggles, the Royals are attempting the second-most free throws in the ASUN.
SCOUTING THE BRUINS (1-9 overall, 0-0 CAC)
- Carolina University enters Tuesday night 1-9 overall and in the midst of a seven-game losing skid
- The Bruins are 1-4 away from Williams Gymnasium with their last road win coming at Columbia College (S.C.) on October 30th (67-61)
- Jacob Heck enters his second season at the helm of the Bruins program. Under his direction, Carolina University is 15-21 and coming off a semifinal appearance at the Regional Tournament. Last season, Heck developed Micah Cooper, the NCCAA South Region Player of the Year who was named an All-American and the Carolina University Male Athlete of the Year
- Carolina University is averaging 58.5 points per game on 39 percent shooting from the field, and 28 percent shooting from the three-point line. The Bruins are being outscored by 18.3 points per game
- The Bruins have been prone to turn the ball over averaging 18.6 per game.
- Three Bruins, including Cameron Parker, Chris High, Adam Claybourne are averaging double figures. Parker and High lead the scoring with 11 points per game.
- Bosnia native Zivko Damjanovic has started seven games for the Bruins. The 6-7 forward is scoring 9.9 points and grabbing 5.3 rebounds per game.
