CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens Royals men's rugby team earned a hard-fought victory against Life University this weekend. Life, currently ranked first in DIA men's rugby. now sits 5-1 on the year after the Royals handed them their first loss of the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half of the match displayed back-and-forth scoring between the two teams with the Royals taking a 15-12 lead into the break.
In the second half, there were multiple changes in momentum. The early part of the period was controlled by Life, who took a 26-15 lead. Then Queens roared back, scoring a pair of tries and conversions to retake the lead. The play of the match was a long run for a try by
Landon Starnes towards the end which helped Queens retake control. Then, with seconds of the match remaining, the Royals made an incredible defensive stand at the try line to prevent Life from winning. In the end, Queens won the match 29-26 to improve to an 8-1 record and continue their unbeaten home streak.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Royals will face the Navy Midshipmen at noon on November 9 in their regular-season finale at Dickson Field
