th when they travel to Boone for an in-state showdown with Appalachian State University. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from the Holmes Convocation Center and the game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus.

THE MATCHUP
Tuesday night will mark the second all-time meeting between the Royals and the Mountaineers. Appalachian State made the trip down to Charlotte a season ago and took down the Royals inside Curry Arena, 93-81. The trio of CJ Huntley, Donovan Gregory, and Tre'Von Spillers combined to net 60 points on 77 percent shooting from the field. The midweek tilt will mark the Royals second of three in-state battles.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS (2-2 overall, 0-0 ASUN)
- Queens will look to get back on track after a ferocious trip out west which featured back-to-back games against Big 12 foes in Utah and BYU. The trip to the BeeHive State was the Royals furthest trip west since advancing to the NCAA Division 2 Elite Eight in Bakersfield, California in 2000-01.
- Since moving up to the Division 1 ranks in 2022, the Royals have made a concerted effort to schedule schools from the Carolinas. This season, Queens has Western Carolina, Appalachian State, USC Upstate, Winthrop, and Gardner-Webb. Over the last three seasons, Queens is 4-4 with two of those losses coming at No. 18 Clemson and No. 16 Duke.
- Despite getting great looks on offense early in the new season, the Royals have struggled to cash in sitting last in the ASUN in field goal percentage at 37 percent. Despite the woes, Queens is ninth in the league in scoring averaging 69.3 points per game.
- A key contributor to the Royals success despite the early shooting struggles has been their defensive effort. After ranking last a season ago, Queens sits fourth in scoring defense while holding opponents to a 38 percent mark from the field which leads the conference.
- Center Malcolm Wilson leads the nation in blocked shots as the seven-footer is averaging 5.7 per game. Against Lynchburg, the Georgetown transfer set a career-high and tied the single-game program record with eight blocks. On the glass, Wilson has been physical bringing down the second most rebounds at 8.5 per game.
- Freshman Yoav Berman has made an immediate impact in his first season in the Queen City. The Tel Aviv, Israel native is second on the team in scoring (8.3 PPG) and rebounding (4.8 RPG). Against Western Carolina, the rookie nearly posted his first career double-double with nine points and nine boards.
- Newcomer Asjon Anderson has been a spark for the Royals off the bench across four appearances. The 6-2 guard leads the Royals with 12.3 points per game which is 20th best in the league. Anderson provided the key spark against Western Carolina sparking an 11-0 run in which he buried three shots from downtown.
- In his first season at the point, Bryce Cash is settling in and packing the stat sheet averaging 6.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. Against Western Carolina, the Charlotte native dished out a career-high nine assists. His performance in the backcourt has landed the Royals third in the league in assists per game with 15.0.
- Queens has been lethal from the perimeter as the Royals have a made a three-pointer in 347 consecutive games. Chris Ashby has been the sparkplug from outside draining a three-pointer in 59-of-70 appearances as he sits eighth all-time in program history for three-pointers made.
- Making their first road trip of the new season, the Royals will look to flip the script away from Curry Arena. In the last two seasons, the Royals are 1-17 in road outings which included the longest losing skid on the road in a single season in program history at 14.
- After sitting top 10 in the country in pace of play last season, the Royals are right back at the top sitting 15th according to KenPom.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS (1-2 overall, 0-0 Sun Belt)
- Appalachian State enters Tuesday night 1-2 overall and coming off an 87-56 loss at Wisconsin on Sunday, November 10th. In that game, five Badgers reached double figures as Wisconsin shot 47 percent from the field. CJ Huntley led App State with a team-high 13 points and six rebounds.
- The Mountaineers were scheduled to play a midweek contest last week against UNC Asheville, but the game was postponed.
- Dustin Kerns is in his sixth season at the helm of the App State program. Under his direction, the Mountaineers are 98-67 and have posted five consecutive seasons with a winning percentage of .500 or better, marking the longest such streak since 1987-92.
- Appalachian State is coming off a season in which they went 15-0 inside the Holmes Convocation Center and made their second NIT appearance in program history.
- The Mountaineers are one of the nation's best shot-blocking teams in the country swatting an NCAA-best 230 last season which was a single-season program record. App State currently sits top 10 in the country averaging 9.0 blocks a contest.
- Preseason All-Sun Belt recipients CJ Huntley and Myles Tate headline the Mountaineers roster. Huntley leads the scoring with 12.3 points per game while adding 5.3 boards on the glass. Tate has started all three games this season and contributing 9.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.
- Appalachian State has found success when scoring 80 points having won each of the last 19 games and are 40-2 under Kerns when doing so.
