THE SHORT STORY
Despite four Royals reaching double figures, the Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team fell at Utah on Tuesday night. The nation's leader in three-point shooting buried 47 percent of their shots from downtown and won the battle on the glass 52-33.
BY THE NUMBERS
-Houston native
Chris Ashby led all Royals scorers with 14 points as the sharpshooter buried four three-pointers.
-Guard
Asjon Anderson turned in his second straight double-figure scoring game with 10 points.
-Charlotte native
Bryce Cash poured in a season-high 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field. Cash added three boards and three assists to his line.
-Making his return to the BeeHive State, senior
Jaxon Pollard recorded 10 points, one rebound, one block, and one steal. Pollard matched his career-high with a pair of three-pointers.
-Center
Malcolm Wilson added five points while grabbing six rebounds and blocking five shots. The veteran turned in a career-high 29 minutes of action.
-Gabe Madsen led all scorers with 24 points on 5-of-12 shooting from outside. After being held to four points in the first half, the senior erupted for 20 points in the second half connecting on 6-of-9 shots from the field.
NOTABLE MOMENTS
-The night started slow for the visiting Royals as Queens shot 2-for-13 from the field over the first nine minutes of action. Utah managed to counter with a 47 percent clip from the field to grab an early 16-5 advantage at the under-12 media break.
-Queens started to find their rhythm as the first half winded down. Trailing 36-17 with 3:28 remaining until halftime, the Royals ripped off a 14-5 run to cut the deficit to 10 going into the break.
-The Royals came out of the halftime break and
Chris Ashby buried a three-pointer to cut the deficit to seven. However, the Runnin' Utes would spark a 17-2 run over a 4:40 minute span to increase their lead back to 22, the largest of the game at the time.

Malcolm Wilson, the nation's leading shot blocker swatted over five shots for the third straight outing.
-Sharpshooter
Chris Ashby extended his three-point streak to 10 straight games, the fifth longest by a Royal in Division 1. Ashby is five three-pointers away from moving into seventh all-time in program history.
-Queens lost the battle on the boards by 19, the most since November 14, 2023, against High Point. The Royals fell to 8-23 in Division 1 when losing the battle on the glass.
-The Royals fell to 1-16 on the road in the last two seasons.
