Oliver Kneer Rips Career-High Four Shots in 4-0 Loss at No. 19 Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Facing their second United Soccer Coaches Top 25 opponent since joining Division 1 in 2022, the Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team fell 4-0 at No. 19 Virginia Tech on Tuesday night. The Hokies explosive attack ranks 45th in the country in scoring and 27th in shots per game and managed to outshoot the visiting Royals 31-10.

TURNING POINT
The difference in the match proved to be the quick start from the Virginia Tech offense. With the rain pouring at Thompson Field in Blacksburg, Virginia, the Hokies netted three goals within 17 minutes to grab a commanding advantage. Despite being held off the board, the Royals countered the Hokies first-half attack with six shots, including four on the frame.

  • Sophomore Oliver Kneer turned in a career-high four shots, including two on goal across 25 minutes of action. The Tuscaloosa, Alabama native has attempted a shot in six straight outings.
  • Graduate student Ciro Bourlot Jaeggi recorded his fourth multi-shot performance of the season, and 10th of his career with a two-shot night. The Santa Fe, Argentina native sits second on the team in shots.
  • Cole Pumpian, Michel Feldman, Cade Bender, and Cesar Mendoza added a shot for Queens. Feldman has taken a shot in five straight matches with his 60th minute strike.
  • Sophomore Evan Morris made his fifth start in goal this season and picked up a career-high nine saves.
  • Three Royals, including Samuel Idinge, Leontios Zacharia, and Rodrigo Canovas turned in complete games.
  • Brock Gramann and Cesar Mendoza made their season debuts for the Royals.
  • The 31 shots from the Hokies attack marked the most by a Royals opponent in Division 1.
 
UP NEXT
Queens will return to the pitch on Saturday, October 5th when the Royals travel to Louisville, Kentucky for an ASUN showdown at Bellarmine. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and the match will be broadcast on ESPN Plus. The meeting will be the third all-time between the two programs with the Knights holding a 1-0-1 advantage after winning 1-0 last season in Charlotte.
