Weaver Breaks Records in Showdown Against Lions

The Short Story: The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team fell short after coming back from a 20-point deficit at the end of the third quarter. The Royals drop to 0-7 in the conference while the Lions improve to 4-3. 

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Jordyn Weaver set a new career high in double-doubles in a season recording her sixth double-double this season with 33 points and 16 rebounds. 
  • The 33 points by the sophomore set a new career high for her and is the most points scored in a game by any Queens women's player in the D1 era. 
  • Alexandria Johnson was a much needed spark off the bench in the second half. The guard netted 13 points on the day and 11 were scored in the second half of the game. 
NOTABLE MOMENTS
  • The Lions got out to a fast start with a 10-0 run to begin the game and were able to keep the dominance in the first quarter scoring 20 points to Queens 4. 
  • The fourth quarter was the biggest fight of the game for the Royals led by two players. Alexandria Johnson recorded 9 points and Weaver picked up 13 points in the 10 minute period to help cut the lead to only 2 with 5 seconds left in the game. . 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • The Royals outscored the Lions in the second and the fourth quarter, 14-11 and 31-21 respectfully. 
  • The Royals had an offensive explosion in the fourth quarter recording the most points in a quarter against D1 opponents all season.

The Royals are back in action on Thursday, February 1st to kick off Black History Month against Lipscomb. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN Plus.
