Louis Goldsack Nets First Goal of the Season in Draw against Radford

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team played the visiting Radford Highlander to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night in a non-conference showdown. The draw marked the Royals second of the season as they gear up for another weekend of ASUN action this Saturday.

Turning Point
The evening affair saw quick offensive opportunities from the start as the Royals generated five shots, including three on target within the first 15 minutes of action. The Royals generated a late first-half goal as Cole Pumpian dribbled down the left side before sending a beautiful ball into the box finding Louis Goldsack. The veteran controlled the incoming pass before ripping a shot into the bottom left corner beating the Highlanders goalkeeper. The lead would hold for 38 minutes before Radford answered in the second half with an equalizer goal off a corner kick.

  • Graduate student Louis Goldsack broke the shutout with a 35th-minute boot into the bottom left corner of the net. The goal was the Middlesbrough, England natives' first of the season and seventh of his career as he finished with two shots.
  • Freshman Cole Pumpian dished out his first career assist while also adding a shot across a season-high 80 minutes of work.
  • Making his second career start between the pipes, freshman goalkeeper Evan Morris was nearly flawless despite a late second-half goal. The rookie faced 10 shots and picked up five saves.
  • Senior striker Mario Goic turned in his sixth multi-shot performance of the season with four shots, including one on frame.
  • Ciro Bourlot Jaeggi posted a season-high three shots, including one on goal across 65 minutes of work.
  • Freshman David Perez turned in a season-high 58 minutes of work on the backline and recorded his first career shot.
  • Caio Brandao and Giuliano Lucca also added a shot on the night for the Royals.
  • Samuel Idinge, Pantelis Panteli, Roberto Alvarez, and Evan Morris turned in 90-minute performances. For Alvarez, the mark was a milestone as it was the rookies first complete game.
  • The Royals offense generated 13 shots, including five on goal. The 13 shots were the second most in a single game this season as Queens has turned in double-digit shots in three of the last four matches.
  • Queens earned a season-best six corners on the night.

Queens will continue their homestand on Saturday, October 30th at 6:00 p.m. when they welcome Bellarmine for an ASUN showdown.
