Caroline Powell Scores Goal in Field Hockey Loss to Bellarmine


CHARLOTTE, N.C.- After a high-scoring first period, the Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team dropped a Sunday match to Bellarmine 7-1. With the loss, the Royals fall to 0-10 on the season while the Knights improve to 4-5. Despite the loss, Sophomore Caroline Powell recorded her first goal of the season and third of her collegiate career.

Turning Point

Both teams came out attacking as Bellarmine scored two goals in the first six minutes. The Royals got on the board ten minutes into the game after Riley Iasiello fed Caroline Powell for her first goal of the season. Despite the early goal, the Knights held the Royals without a shot on goal for the rest of the match en route to the victory.

The Royals stay home next weekend as they will host La Salle on Sunday, October 1st at 12:00 PM. The game will be the final of a five-game home stretch before going on the road to play Providence and Holy Cross the following week. The matchup with La Salle will be the first time the Royals and Explorers match up with one another.
