SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (1-4-1, 0-1) fought the Wofford Terriers (1-2-4) to a scoreless draw on Tuesday night behind the stout defensive play of the Royals backline. The shutout marked the second this season for Queens as the Royals and Terriers met for the second time ever.
Turning Point
The first half saw Wofford command the match generating multiple scoring opportunities. Coming out of the break, the Royals were the squad to find scoring chances, specifically a 71st-minute opportunity from
Mario Goic which was denied by the Terriers goalkeeper by mere inches. Across both halves, the Royals backline proved to be the turning point denying the Terriers from scoring despite ripping 15 shots, including eight on target.
Key Stats & Notes
- Making his first career start in goal, freshman Evan Morris was flawless turning in his first shutout. The Fort Mill native faced 15 shots and tallied eight saves which was the most by a Royals goalkeeper since November 6, 2021, when Nicolai Andersen recorded 10 saves.
- Senior striker Mario Goic led the Royals with three shots, including one on frame across 82 minutes. The Royals are 2-0-1 on the season when Goic turns in multi-shot performances.
- Coming off a season-high three shots at Lipscomb, Caio Brandao recorded a shot on the net while playing 79 minutes of work.
- Freshman Josh Chapman earned his first career start on the night and turned in a complete 90 minutes. Chapman and veteran back Samuel Idinge played complete matches on the backline earning the shutout.
- Sophomore Alex Acton made his third appearance on the season playing a season-high 16 minutes.
- The Terriers earned eight corner opportunities while the Royals generated one.

rd when they travel to the University of Central Arkansas. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. EST. The Royals and Bears met for the first time last season in Charlotte and the visitors netted three goals in the final seven minutes of action to stun the Royals with a 4-3 victory.
