MATCH PREVIEW: Royals Tackle Runnin' Bulldogs in Levine

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte volleyball team jumps back to the Levine Center on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 7:00 PM in hopes of swiping a triumph against the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs in their last scheduled non-conference matchup before ASUN play.

ABOUT LAST WEEK...

- The Royals are coming off a commendable performance at the Virginia Tech Classic, as the team stole a set from 10-1 ACC superstars Virginia Tech on Friday, Sep. 15 and swept the Atlantic 10 Duquesne Dukes in the finale on Saturday, Sep. 16.

- The Royals put up 41 kills in the matchup, marking their fourth time tallying 40 or more kills in a match this season.

- Against the Hokies, Alleigh Johnson slammed a season-high 16 kills and put up her best hitting percentage (.389) in her Division I career to date.

- Against the Dukes, Queens put up a solid .209 hitting percentage, tabbing their second-highest percentage on the season behind their performance against Marshall on Sep. 8 (.230).

- Jordyn Johnson led Queens with 12 kills, while Kayla McDuffie put up a .462 hitting percentage coming from seven kills, one error, and 13 total attempts. McDuffie's night against the Dukes marks her best hitting night of the season.
 

SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB

- Gardner-Webb sits at a 5-6 overall record in 2023 after snagging a hard-fought five-setter against Big South opponent Chattanooga on Saturday, Sep. 15.

- Freshman standout Jenna Otts led the Runnin' Bulldogs with 22 kills, a season and career-high.

- Otts sits in second place in the Big South in the kills category (138).

- Gardner-Webb posted 63 kills in the match — a team season-high —compared to the Mocs' 53 last weekend.

- On the year, sophomore Sophia Kotsovolos leads the team and the Big South in total digs with 190.

- Madison Smith,  another freshman for the Runnin' Bulldogs, leads the Big South in service aces with 24.
