Chloe Burdette Named Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte Assistant A.D. for Communications Phylicia Short is pleased to welcome Chloe Burdette as an Assistant Director for Athletic Communications on Monday afternoon. Burdette comes to the Queen City after previously serving as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at UVA-Wise.

"I am excited to add Chloe to our team for the upcoming season," said Short. "Her talents paired with her high energy will be a great addition to the athletic communications team at Queens as we continue our transition to Division 1. The coverage she will provide for her teams will aid the growth of our visibility and viability moving forward."

For the last two years, Burdette served as the primary contact for the Cavaliers men's basketball, volleyball, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's cross country, and women's lacrosse programs. Burdette published all game recaps and stories on the official athletics website while also creating and designing social media collateral for their official social media channels. This past season, Burdette won the College Sports Communicators Digital Design award for a winter sports graphic/statistical milestone.

Prior to joining the Cavaliers, Burdette spent five years in The College of Wooster Athletic Department as a sports information director student assistant, and editor-in-chief while completing her degree in Communication studies. Burdette administered technical support for online web streaming of varsity contests, served as a public address announcer, and provided website maintenance. As a sports writer, Burdette headed weekly content meetings and reviewed articles slated for publication.

Burdette began her career in sports as a production crew and creative services intern for the Akron Rubberducks, the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. With the team, Burdette administered support for all streams while also creating a marketing and sales schedule for all themed-home events at Canal Park.

"I want to thank Phylicia Short and the administration for the opportunity to join the Queens University family," said Burdette. "It is very clear that Queens is a tremendous institution, and I am thrilled to be joining such an impressive athletic communications staff dedicated to supporting and promoting their student-athletes in all aspects."

Burdette received a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from The College of Wooster in 2021. She is currently on track to complete a master's degree in Sport Management from the University of Florida online program.
