Best Plays of the Year
Men's Winner - Kenny Dye's Game-Winning Basket Against Marshall, Men's Basketball
Queens' all-time leading scorer shined brightest when it mattered most, helping put a bow on the Royals' first game as a Division I program. Queens opened against a Marshall team who'd go on to boast a 24-8 overall record, and gave them everything they got. After a back-and-forth battle for two halves, Queens trailed by as much as eight points with under three minutes remaining. A late run by the Royals helped cut the deficit to one, with Queens possessing the ball for one final possession. Dye found the ball in his hands and aggressively drove to the rim, laying the ball in with his right hand to give the Royals a two-point lead with under 10 seconds remaining. His made bucket ultimately proved to be the game-winner, as Marshall missed two last-second opportunities to give Queens the victory.
Women's Winner - Lexi Flores' Behind-The-Back Goal against Winthrop, Women's Lacrosse
Women's Lacrosse picked up their first home win of the season over Winthrop in early March, 17-6. Among the 17 goals scored, one play stands out among the rest. Sophomore Lexi Flores showed her crafty ability with the ball in her stick, rifling a shot behind her back which found the back of the net in the second quarter. The goal was her fifth of the season and helped propel the Royals to their third consecutive victory.
