CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Queens was back on the field for the rubber match against Lipscomb Saturday afternoon in search of their third-consecutive series victory. Dominant pitching combined with timely hitting gave Queens a 2-0 victory in the final game of the series.
Queens managed to strike first in the top of the third as
Kaylee DeJesus crossed the plate on a groundout by
Caroline Johnson to put the Royals ahead, 1-0.
Autumn Courtney, who got the start for the second-consecutive day, dominated in the circle from start to finish, striking out six while only giving up three hits.
With the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning,
Ashlyn Mickler came up to bat and found open grass through the right side to score
Jordyn Thompson and double Queens' lead, 2-0.
Courtney shut down the Bisons in the bottom of the seventh to prevent any comeback attempt and earn her 12th victory of the season.
