CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball head coach
Grant Leonard is excited to announce the addition of Bryce Cash to the 2023 Signing Class. Cash joins the Royals program following a sensational high school career at Carmel Christian and Charlotte Christian.
"Bryce is a winner, period," said Coach Leonard. "He makes winning plays every game, especially when the game is on the line. He is the toughest player on the floor night in and night out. He can guard multiple positions and at times, all five positions. He is also a gifted offensive player who can score on multiple levels. Bryce will be a phenomenal player for the Royals for many years and we are excited to have him a part of the family!"
A native of Charlotte, Cash is coming off a spectacular season at Carmel Christian. The guard and forward combo recorded 1,515 career points in high school and averaged 14.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.4 steals per game last year at Carmel Christian. Cash guided the Cougars to a 28-4 record in 2022-23, including a state championship appearance. Carmel Christian took down the 4A State Champions from Myers Park in a non-conference showdown.
"Bryce is a physical, tough competitor with a tremendous work ethic," said Carmel Christian Head Coach Joe Badgett. "He is a high character young man that is great on and off the court! Simply put, he is a 'Coaches Dream.' Coach Leonard and his staff are a perfect fit for Bryce! Their program is built on toughness and hard work which is the DNA of Bryce Cash!"
Cash hauled in accolades during his high school campaign. The 6-5 standout was named CISAA All-Conference in 2021 and 2022, NCISAA 4A All-State in 2022 and 2023, Third Team All-Observer in 2023, and First Team All-Observer Defensive Team in 2023. Cash was a 4A State Runner-Up in 2023 and named to the Anthony Morrow Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team. A member of the Team Curry AAU team, Cash won the 16U UAA National Championship.
"Queens University of Charlotte felt right," said Bryce. The coaching staff made me feel like we were already a family. I liked everything Queens had to offer from the newer facilities, to the trainers, the nutrition professions. The most important thing for me was to continue to work hard and bring a winner's mentality and work ethic to Queens. Go ROYALS!!!!"
The Royals are coming off their first Division 1 season as a member of the ASUN Conference. Queens posted an 18-15 overall record and a 7-11 conference record, including a quarterfinal appearance in the ASUN Tournament. Queens has turned in 15 or more wins in nine consecutive seasons dating back to 2013-14. The Royals return four starters who averaged over 20.0 minutes per game last season. Queens ranked second in the league in scoring averaging pouring in 77.7 points per game and second in the league in rebounds per game with 37.3.
