Queens Closes Regular Season at Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team (9-7, 4-3) traveled to take on Coastal Carolina (11-6, 4-3) in their regular-season finale, falling 20-10 to the Chanticleers.      
 
How It Happened
The Chanticleers quickly jumped out in front, scoring 10 unanswered goals in the first quarter of today's game. Queens wouldn't see its first goal of the day until the start of the second period. At the half, the Royals trailed 15-4.
 
The Royals slowed Coastal Carolina's offense down in the third, allowing just two goals from the Chanticleers in the period. However, Queens was just able to add three goals to the board. The Royals weren't able to close the gap in the fourth either as both teams put three balls in the back of the net to give the game its final score.

Key Stats & Notes
  • Elise Grissett led the Royals with three goals while Kayleen Favreau and Karsyn Sadler added two goals each.
  • Sharn Muffett took the loss in goal after registering five saves in 41:17. Caroline Kraemer added two saves in 18:43 of playing time.
  • Claire Martell secured the win in goal for Coastal Carolina after recording six saves.
  • Four Chanticleers recorded hat tricks in the game. Sydney McClure totaled six points with three goals and three assists while Kayla Downey added five points on three goals and two assists.
  • Queens was outshot 37-23 by the Chanticleers who put 27 shots on goal compared to Queens' 16.
  • Jacksonville won the battle in the draw circle, taking 24 of the 31 draw controls. However, the Royals won the battle for ground balls, 15-10.
