CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Queens returned home for the first time in nearly a month for a single-game showdown with Jacksonville. The game remained tight throughout and would spill into extra innings, unfortunately the Dolphins were able to put the game away in the 10th inning, taking the first game of the series, 3-2.
Jacksonville got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning, a lead that would hold for three innings.
Queens was able to knot the score at one in the bottom of the third, as a well-hit ball by
Jordyn Thompson squeezed through the left side and brought home
Kayla Smith.
Both teams were held scoreless at the end of seven innings which forced extra innings. The Dolphins struck first in extras with a home run in the top of the ninth inning to take a 2-1 lead.
With two outs and their backs against the wall,
Kaylee DeJesus came up to bat and smashed a home run to left field, tying the game once more.
Jacksonville brought home their third run of the game in the bottom of the 10th inning and would hold Queens from scoring, claiming a 3-2 victory over the Royals.

The series between Queens and Jacksonville continues on Sunday, April 23 with a doubleheader at 11AM and 1:30PM.
