CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team (4-4) sit even on the year after having their four-game win streak snapped in a tight game at Robert Morris (2-5). The Colonials were able to sneak past the Royals with an 11-10 win in the nonconference game.
How It Happened
After falling behind 5-2 in the opening quarter, the Royals battled back to pull within one, 6-5, heading into the halftime break.
The Colonials had the momentum offensively at the start of the third quarter, putting three unanswered goals on the board to extend their lead to four, 9-5. However, Queens'
Maura O'Donoghue would put a stop to the run with a goal at 2:57.
Queens trailed 11-7 early in the fourth, but they would shut the Colonials offense down for the remainder of play while putting three balls in the back of the net to pull within one, 11-10, with 1:17 to play. Unfortunately, the Royals weren't able to get another shot off in the closing minute to send the game into overtime.
Key Stats & Notes
- Kayleen Favreau led the Royals with a hat trick. Today marks the third straight game that she has scored at least three goals. She also had two assists to tally a total of five points.
- Shannon Donovan, Shannon Kingston, and O'Donoghue each added two goals. The trio also combined for eight draw controls, six ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
- Grace Guglielmo recorded five draw controls, five ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
- Caroline Kraemer took today's loss in goal after recording five saves in 30 minutes of play. Sharn Muffett totaled nine saves in 30 minutes of action.
- Jamie Keller earned the win in goal today for Robert Morris after recording 11 saves.
- Lilli Hadden and Jenna Irwin each recorded five points to lead the Colonials' offense. Hadden had three goals and two assists while Irwin totaled four goals and one assist.
- Queens was outshot 33-29 by Robert Morris who put 25 shots on goal compared to the Royals' 21 shots on goal.
- The battle for ground balls was won by the Royals, 23-22, and they owned the circle winning 14 of 24 draw controls.

Queens will return home to close out their nonconference schedule on Saturday, Mar. 25 against Presbyterian. The game is scheduled to begin at noon.
