CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team (1-5, 0-1) returned home to Dickson Field this afternoon to open ASUN Conference play against Air Force (5-2, 2-0). The Royals fell 18-6 to the Falcons.
 
How it Happened
The Falcons quickly got out to a 2-0 lead in the opening quarter before extending their run to four goals. Queens would see its first goal of the day at 3:51 as Air Force headed into the second on top, 5-1. The Royals' offense picked up in the second as they put two goals on the board, but the Falcons would add three more to their point total to take an 8-3 advantage into the half.
 
The third quarter was all Air Force as they scored five unanswered goals in the period to increase their lead to 10, 13-3. They then outscored the Royals 5-3 in the fourth to collect their second conference win of the season.
 
Key Stats & Notes

• Brendan Nace and Micah Stechmiller each scored two goals to lead Queens.
• Josh Yago led the Falcons' offense with six points on five goals and one assist. Brandon Dodd added five points on four goals and one assist.
• Jason Rose took the win in goal for Air force after recording two saves in 48:32.
• Queens was outshot, 39-21, by Air Force who put 25 shots on goal compared to Queens' 11.
• The Falcons edged the Royals in the circle winning 14-of-32 face-offs. They also won the battle for ground balls, 38-34.

 
Coach's Quote
"Certainly, a great program to test ourselves," head coach Chris Panos commented. "I liked a lot of the things we did. The ground balls were pretty even; the face-offs, we were able to win some of that. Obviously, the turnovers, we need to clean some of that up, but overall it was a good measuring stick for us.
