CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team opened its inaugural NCAA Division I season, battling 22
nd-ranked Richmond at home and falling 13-6.
How it Happened
After falling behind, 2-0, early, the Royals were able to battle back to trail 3-2 at the close of the opening quarter. The Spiders took control in the second outscoring the Royals 3-1 to take a 6-3 lead into the halftime break.
Queens' offense would pick up in the third as they got on a roll with back-to-back goals from senior midfielder
Shannon Kingston. However, the fourth quarter was all Richmond as they added four more goals to the board while holding the Royals scoreless.

- Freshman midfielder Isabella Swanson scored the opening goal of the game for the Royals with 10:26 on the clock.
- Shannon Kingston reached the 100-career points milestone after totaling two goals and an assist.
- Senior attacker Caroline Pearce also scored two goals.
- Maura O'Donoghue led Queens in draw controls with five while Grace Guglielmo led in caused turnovers with four.
- Junior goalkeeper Caroline Kraemer took the loss after totaling six saves in 30 minutes of action. Sharn Muffett totaled four saves.

- Richmond's Daniela Stelcer totaled seven saves in goal for the win.
- Richmond outshot the Royals 28-20 putting 23 shots on goal compared to Queens' 13 shots on goal.
- The Spiders edged the Royals in draw controls, 13-10, while Queens totaled 22 ground balls to Richmond's 21.
