The Short Story:Â The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team won 64-61 in a thriller against Winthrop on Sunday afternoon. The Royals improved to 4-4 while the Eagles fell to 4-5 on the season.Â
BY THE NUMBERS
- Adia Brisker has now become the 15th player in program history to record 1,000 career points. The senior picked up 5 points today pushing her past the milestone in the 1st quarter of the game.
- Nicole Gwynn led the team in points and returned to double-figures in the game with 23 points. Tiziana Huici finished right behind Gwynn with 19 points on the day.
- Huici was very efficient for the Royals off the bench, she shot 7-8 from the field and 3-4 beyond the arc.

NOTABLE MOMENTS
- The Royals were down by four with three minutes left in the game when Tiziana Huici drained a much-needed three-pointer which brought the Royals within one.
- After two free throws by the Eagles, the Royals were down by three with two and a half minutes in the game. Nicole Gwynn came up clutch with two made layups to seal the game including a go-ahead layup with only four seconds left in the game.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- Queens improved significantly at the free throw line with the team shooting 92 percent from the line. Â
- The Royals bench outscored the Eagles' bench 25-6
- Â The game was extremely competitive from start to finish with there being seven lead changes.
