CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Matej Dusa has been named the ASUN men's Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. 

"Always great to have an athlete recognized by their conference," Director of Swimming Jeff Dugdale said. "Matej is currently number three in Division I in his 50, which made him a strong candidate among many good swims this past weekend."

Dusa, a senior from Bratislava, Slovakia, had a week for the ages as the freestyle/butterfly swimmer finished first in the Men's 50 Yard Freestyle event against No. 9 ranked University of North Carolina (UNC) on Sep. 29, 2023 with a time of 19.66, marking an ASUN conference record. His 19.66 time currently ranks fifth in all of Division I. In the same event, Dusa also placed first in the Men's 50 Yard Freestyle event against Davidson on Sep. 30, 2023 with a time of 20.48.

In addition, Dusa finished first in the Men's 100 Yard Freestyle event against UNC with a time of 44.67, marking another ASUN conference record. The time of 44.67 ranks 19th in all of Division I in the event. Once again, the senior finished finished first in the Men's 100 Yard Freestyle event against Davidson with a time of 45.97.

As for relays on the weekend, Dusa was part of the ASUN conference record time of 3:02.52 in the Men's 400-yard Freestyle against Davidson (21.57) and was part of the ASUN conference record time of 1:20.30 in the Men's 200-yard Freestyle against UNC (19.66). The relay final time at UNC currently ranks second in all of Division I in the event.
