CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team battled Jacksonville inside the Levine Center Saturday evening, and despite a strong third-set performance from Kayla McDuffie, the Royals fell in three sets (19-25, 19-25, 22-25) to the Dolphins.
With the setback, Queens falls to 4-20 overall and 1-11 in conference play. Jacksonville improves to 8-16 overall and 5-7 in conference play.
TURNING POINT
Following 25-19 setbacks in each of the first two sets, the Royals entered the third set needing a victory to keep the match alive. Coming out of the break, Queens came out attacking and capitalized on a service error from the Dolphins to begin the set. Following several successful attacks from Kayla McDuffie and Victoria Wood, the Royals took an early 5-2 lead in the frame. The Dolphins reclaimed the lead later in the set and held on for most of the rest of the way. However, the Royals went on a 4-0 run following a timeout to cut the Dolphin lead to 23-22 capped off by an attack error from Jacksonville and a kill from Alleigh Johnson which forced Jacksonville to take a timeout. Although the Royals caught Jacksonville off their feet, the Dolphins scored the final two points for the three-set victory.

Kayla McDuffie tied a season-high with 12 kills to up her season total to 153.

McDuffie also had one of her most efficient matches of the season with a .611 hitting percentage, which is her second-best percentage of the season.

Victoria Wood recorded eight kills and upped her season total to 124.

Kendall Buish recorded yet another double-double as she recorded 32 assists and 11 digs.This is Buish's 13th double-double of the season and sixth of conference play.

Callie DeSchryver recorded her first career dig. The freshman appeared in her seventh match of the season and fifth of conference play and also recorded her 10th kill of the campaign.

Jordyn Johnson led the way with 14 digs for the Royals to improve her season total to 246.
UP NEXT
The Royals travel south to Florida, beginning with a match on Friday, November 3 against Stetson and Saturday against Florida Gulf Coast. The Royals fell to the Stetson Hatters in five sets earlier this season in Charlotte and fell in three sets to the Eagles.
The Royals then return home for their final two regular season matches against Kennesaw State and Eastern Kentucky.
