Royals Face Hatters in Four-Set Battle

DELAND, FLA. — Despite a hard-fought third set battle ending in a Royals 25-23 triumph, the Hatters reigned victorious overall in a 3-1 defeat (14-25, 19-25, 25-23, 16-25).


TURNING POINT
The Royals (4-21, 1-12 ASUN) found themselves at a two-set deficit after Stetson (12-13, 7-6 ASUN) put up a solid hitting performance — notably in the first set (.417). The Hatters' block game was proficient, with Lily Mueller holding off the Royals at the net.

Queens put the hammer down in the third set, as the squad slapped down 13 kills and a .258 hitting percentage to duke out the frame triumph 25-23. The Hatters didn't make things easy, though, as the set featured 11 tied scores and five lead changes.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Victoria Wood led the Royals with 10 kills on the night; her first double-digit kill performance since playing Central Arkansas on Oct. 13.
  • Tilley Collins added a total 15 digs against Stetson, marking her fourth consecutive match with double-digit dig performances.
  • Kendall Buish added 23 assists on the night, while Claire Jenkins added 12 of her own.
  • The Royals snagged six aces against the Hatters. Buish, Alleigh Johnson, and Jordyn Johnson each put up a pair.
  • The Royals finished with a .132 hitting percentage at the conclusion of the match.
  • For Stetson, Annabelle Standish and Sophia Groom each put down a match-leading 11 kills.
  • Nyah Molina added a solid 40 digs to her stat line.
  • The Hatters outhit the Royals with a .286 hitting percentage.
