CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team suffered a Wednesday night setback against Virginia Military Institution by a final score of 4-2. The Royals will head into their final regular season match seeking a victory to clinch their first spot in the ASUN Tournament.

All tied 1-1, the evening turned in the 30
th minute when the visiting Keydets earned a penalty kick opportunity following a red card due to a foul in the box. VMI sent a deep ball forward and saw a 1-on-1 opportunity with the Royals goalkeeper
Evan Morris. Queens defender
David Perez tracked him down from behind and a physical battle in the box resulted in a penalty kick for VMI. Perez was assessed a red card forcing the Royals to play the final 60 minutes of action with 10 players.
Key Stats & Notes
- Veteran striker Ciro Bourlot Jaeggi recorded his third goal of the season. The Santa Fe, Argentina native has two goals in the last three matches as he tied for second on the team in scoring.
- Freshman Cade Bender scored his first career goal which was an equalizer minutes before the first half.
- Sophomore Michel Feldman extended his team-best points total to 15 with an assist on the opening goal. The forward leads the Royals with five assists.
- Giuliano Lucca dished out his first career assist on the Bourlot Jaeggi goal. The senior also added a shot across 56 minutes of action.
- Rookie Brock Gramann recorded his first career assist on the equalizer goal from Cade Bender.
- After winning the shooting column 7-6 in the first half, the Royals were outshot over the final 45 minutes 8-1.
- The first goal of the evening from Bourlot Jaeggi was the fastest goal scored by a Royal after the opening whistle in the Division 1 era. The senior put it away within 41 seconds of the match beginning.
