Men's Soccer Battles With ACC Foe Virginia Tech

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - After earning two ASUN weekly awards, the Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team took on ACC foe in Virginia Tech in a midweek matchup. The Royals dropped the match 3-2 despite a hard-fought second half. On the season, Queens falls to 3-8-2 while Virginia Tech improves to 4-5-4.

Turning Point

After a hat trick in Saturday's contest, Michel Feldman stayed hot as he received a pass from Roberto Alvarez in the 34th minute that he converted into his fourth goal in a matter of two halves. The goal knotted the score up at one apiece after Virginia Tech scored a goal early in the first half. The Hokies would add on another to take a 2-1 lead with three minutes until halftime. However, less than a minute later Michel Feldman added on another point to his total as he found Ciro Bourlot Jaeggi in front of the goal for Jaeggi's second goal of the season which tied the score at two apiece heading into the half. 
 

Key Stats & Notes

  • Between the second half Saturday and the first half on Tuesday night, Michel Feldman recorded ten points in the matter of two halves with four goals and two assists. The 10 points in a two-game span is a Royals Division I record and the first since Felipe Mendonca in 2021. Feldman also turned in a season-high 74 minutes of action.

  • Ciro Bourlot Jaeggi scored his second goal of the season with a beautiful touch in the 43rd minute.

  • Roberto Alvarez recorded his second assist of the season on the Feldman goal. The freshman also added a shot attempt in his third consecutive game.

  • The first meeting with the Hokies was the first time the Royals hosted a power five opponent as a Division I team.

Up Next

The Royals play their final road game of the regular season as they travel to North Florida on Saturday, October 21st at 7:00 PM. Last season, the Ospreys defeated the Royals 1-0 in Charlotte in the only Division I matchup between the two teams. The meeting holds critical ASUN Tournament seeding decisions as the Royals are looking to secure one of the final seeds.
