Lebedev and Feldman Net First Career Goals in Battle against Wofford

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (1-7 overall, 0-2 ASUN) battled to the very end before dropping a non-conference tilt against the Wofford Terriers (3-5-1 overall, 0-0 SOCON) by a final score of 4-3 on Tuesday night. Trailing 4-1 heading into the final eight minutes, the Royals mounted a push with two goals in the final moments, but the Terriers managed to escape the comeback effort.

Turning Point
The turning point of the evening proved to be the Terriers ability to respond with four unanswered goals after falling behind in the opening two minutes. Both teams were efficient on the attack as Wofford took 11 shots and placed seven on goal while the Royals took a dozen shots and put six on frame.
 
Key Stats & Notes
  • Sophomore Mario Goic recorded his team-leading fourth goal in the early minutes. The Croatia native has scored in three of the last four matches as he ranks atop the league in shots and third in goals.
  • The evening saw a trio of firsts as Maximilian Lebedev and Michel Feldman scored their first two goals in a Royals uniforms. Both goals sparked a late rally from the Royals in the final minutes of the game. On the second Queens goal, freshman Cesar Mendoza dished out his first career assist by setting up Feldman in front of the Terriers netminder.
  • Senior Felipe Mendonca posted his fifth career assist, and second straight in as many games on the Mario Goic early goal. The Salvador native sent a beautiful touch over the Terriers defense and found Goic in stride. Mendonca also added a pair of shots while putting one on goal.
  • Louis Goldsack turned in another great performance by setting up the Mario Goic goal with an impressive reverse touch to Mendonca. The graduate student has three points in the last two games after scoring his fourth career goal last Saturday at #21 Lipscomb.
  • Boris Basara remained involved in the Queens attack posting a pair of shots, including one on goal. The graduate student has recorded three shots in the last two matches.
  • As a team, the Royals won the shooting battle 12-11, but the Terriers put seven shots on frame compared to the Queens six. Wofford won the corners total as well 5-2 and both teams managed to net two goals off set pieces.
  • The Terriers saw a pair of goals come off the boot of Nikolai Rojel. Jackson Wrobel earned a goal while also dishing out a pair of assists.

Queens will remain at home as they return to league play on Saturday, Oct. 1 when the University of North Florida comes to Dickson Field.
