CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte women's rugby team won the 7s tripleheader series on Saturday against Newberry College.
"Today's JV matches against Newberry were imperative for the growth of NCAA Women's Rugby," said Head Coach
Dana Meschisi. "Getting to play local NIRA teams in our division, helps developing teams prepare for greater competition."
In the first game, the Royals were dominant as they beat the Wolves 17-5.
Brenna Milligan scored the first two tries of the game followed by the only try of the game from Newberry. Queens would then answer with another try and conversion from
Jessica Sambor to win the game.
The second game was a different story as Newberry came out of the gate scoring the first try.
Tatiana Price would then answer with a try of her own to tie the game 5-5.
Bridget Cassell would then take the lead for the Royals with a try followed by a conversion from
Chase Mauerhan to make the score 12-5. The Wolves would outlast the Royals 22-12 scoring three tries and a conversion in the end.
Queens would get their revenge in the third game as they beat the Red Wolves 21-7. In the first half, the Royals scored two tries and conversions to leave Newberry scoreless 14-0. The Royals also dominated the second half to win the game and win today's series 2-1.

Chase Mauerhan has three conversions.
"Playing some 7s has been a great conditioning tool for us, as we continue to prep for our upcoming test against West Chester next weekend. "said Coach Meschisi.
The Royals will travel to West Chester, PA next weekend to face the Golden Rams in a NIRA matchup on Saturday October 1
st at 10:00 AM.
