CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  The 2022 Queens University of Charlotte women's field hockey team will kick off their inaugural NCAA DI season on Friday, Aug. 26 when they host Longwood University at Bessant Field at 5 p.m.
 
The Royals are coming off a 2021 campaign where they finished 7-12 overall and 5-7 in conference play. With 2021 all-conference honorees Gabe Lecher and Ellie Fitzgerald on the field providing leadership, Queens looks to embark on an exciting season with a roster loaded with young talent.
 
MAC conference member Longwood is coming off a year where they finished 10-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play. A year ago, the Lancers also reached the MAC title game for the first time since joining the conference. Returning to the field for the Lancers is MAC Freshman of the Year Maroussia Walckiers and All-MAC Second Team honoree Sophia Loscher.
 
Friday's game is one of just three opportunities to catch the Royals in action at Bessant Field this season. The road warriors will face Davidson College at home on Friday, Sept. 2 and Limestone University at home on Saturday, Nov. 5 for Senior Day.
