CHARLOTTE, N.C. - With the 2022 European Swimming Championships underway, two Royals look to represent their home countries in hopes of bringing home gold. Rising freshman Daniel Meszaros (Hungary) and rising junior Matej Dusa (Slovakia) arrived in Rome, Italy and are set to compete in the week-long championship.

Matej Dusa is coming off a successful sophomore campaign, helping lead Queens to its seventh-consecutive national title under head coach Jeff Dugdale. Dusa played his part in becoming national champions in four different events, including the 50-meter freestyle, 200-yard Freestyle Relay, 400-yard Freestyle Relay, and 400-yard Medley Relay. While earning All-American honors in those events, he added the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly to his All-American long list of accomplishments from last season.

The upperclassman will compete in the same events he became national champion in last season; the 50-meter freestyle, the 100-meter freestyle, and will swim a leg of the 4x100 freestyle relay. The preliminary round of the 50 and 100-meter freestyles will take place on August 16, and August 12, respectively, while the preliminary round of the 4x100 freestyle relay will occur on August 14.

Daniel Meszaros is entering his first season as a Royal and looks to make an impact as the team enters its first season as a Division I institution. The Hungarian native will look to continue to perform at a high level as he will swim a leg of the 4x100 freestyle relay, along with teammate Matej Dusa.
