CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte Department of Athletics is set to host its annual awards ceremony honoring the accomplishments of its student-athletes in a virtual format through the Queens Athletics website and social media channels.

For the 10
th straight year, the ceremony is being sponsored by InterCon Building Corp. InterCon has been an outstanding sponsor for the Royals as their generosity helped support the building of Byrum Hall, the tennis courts, and the Queens Sports Complex.

The department awards will be released twice a week during the month of June as Queens will announce winners of the Sportsmanship Award, Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Male and Female Comeback Athletes of the Year, and Male and Female Senior Student-Athletes of the Year. In addition to the individual awards, the department will also recognize performance-based accomplishments for teams and individuals including Men's and Women's Team Comeback Win of the Year, Best Male and Female Individual and Team Championship Performance, and Men's and Women's Upset of the Year. The department released the Royal Service Award and Mark Kelso "Just Show Up" Award winners on April 25, 2022.

Pamela Davies Scholar-Athletes of the Year
Presented by the Department of Athletics to a student-athlete who has attained a strong academic record and has excelled in their sport. The award is named after former University president Pamela Davies who served the institution for 17 years (2002-2019), distinguishing herself through her commitment to providing innovative and high-quality education and building community partnerships that enhance the educational experience of Queens students.

Male Winner – Jan Delkeskamp, Men's Swimming
Delkeskamp, a Wermelskirchen, Germany native is the male recipient for the second consecutive year. The senior has 135 credits while holding a 4.0 GPA and studying Finance. Prior to the 2022 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving National Championships, Delkeskamp became the first male athlete and fourth overall at Queens to receive the Elite 90 Award. The prestigious honor is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships. Delkeskamp is a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-American, two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, and a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree.

In the pool, Delkeskamp is a two-time individual national champion and has put together a total of 20 CSCAA All-America swims and 12 Bluegrass Mountain Conference titles. The veteran helped the Royals secured their seventh straight National Championship this past season.

Female Winner – Kayla Tennant, Women's Swimming
Tennant graduated from Queens with 171 total credits in May 2022 with an unblemished 4.0 career GPA while double majoring in Biology and Psychology. Ahead of the 2022 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving National Championships, Tennant was awarded the Elite 90 Award which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site. The Lexington, N.C. native became the third Royal athlete to receive the high praise. Tennant is a two-time CSCAA All-American, a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree, and a CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2021.

In the water, Tennant is a three-time national champion, seven-time CSCAA All-American, four-time CSCAA Honorable Mention All-American, and eight-time Bluegrass Mountain Conference All-Conference selection. Tennant helped lead the Royals to their seventh straight national championship this past season.
