Clare Short Earns Career Win 100 Against Railsplitters

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The top-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team collected its 13th straight win today defeating Lincoln Memorial University, 25-5, on the road. In addition to the Royals' record improving to 13-0 on the season and 7-0 in South Atlantic Conference play, Queens Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Clare Short recorded her 100th career win with the victory.
 
Super senior midfielder Kyleigh Masteran also had a historic day setting a new single-season record for goals. She now has 61 on the season after totaling six this afternoon. Masteran also recorded three assists to lead with nine points. Shannon Kingston added five goals while Shannon Donovan totaled four. Katilyn Hardin recorded a hat trick and two assists while Caroline Krauch and Rebecca Kinsley each chipped in with two goal and one assist.
 
Queens was dominant yet again outshooting their opponent, 47-12, to put 37 shots on goal. The Royals also won 28 draw controls with Grace Guglielmo's 10 leading the way. Kingston totaled six draw controls and Sydney Bracken notched five.
 
The Royals got off to a 6-0 start en route to building an 8-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. They then outscored LMU 6-2 in the second quarter to take a 14-5 advantage into the halftime break.
 
With the rain continuing to come down, Queens shutout the Railsplitters in the second half while scoring 10 more goals.
 
In goal, Sharn Muffett moved to 4-0 on the year after recording four saves for the Royals.
 
Ali Van Der Ziel totaled three goals to lead the Railsplitters in the loss.
 
The Royals will host No. 23 Limestone on Wednesday, Apr. 13 at Dickson Field. The top 25 matchup will begin at 3:30 p.m.
