No.1 Queens Rolls Past Crusaders

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The top-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team continued its spectacular season of play today collecting a 27-3 nonconference win over Belmont Abbey College this afternoon at Dickson Field. The Royals now hold an impressive 12-0 record to continue their best start to a season in program history.
 
Super senior Kyleigh Masteran led the Royals in the win matching the single-game record for goals with seven. She also totaled two assists to total nine points. Carson Giordano also recorded nine points on the day with three goals and six assists while Rebecca Kinsley tallied six assists and one goal for seven points. Kaitlyn Hardin added five goals while Shannon Donovan and Shannon Kingston each scored four goals.
 
The Royals were dominant on the offensive end of the field outshooting the Crusaders, 42-6, to put 35 shots on goal. Queens also won 25 draw controls with Sydney Bracken's 10 leading the way.
 
Queens got off to a 4-0 start before Belmont Abbey was able to score at 8:19 in the first. The Royals then scored 12 unanswered goals to take a 15-1 lead into the halftime break.
 
Queens' 18-0 run would end in the third quarter when the Crusaders were able to find their second point of the day with 4:52 on the clock. The Royals then outscored Belmont Abbey 5-1 in the fourth to solidify their 12th win in a row this season.
 
In goal, Sharn Muffett earned her third consecutive win for the Royals.
 
Michelle Guppy took the loss in goal for Belmont Abbey after totaling eight saves. Mackenzie Kaderabek totaled two goals.
 
Queens will be on the road at Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday, Apr. 9. The game with the Railsplitters is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
